William was born about September 1028 in Falaise, Normandy, France.  William's father was Robert I "The Magnificent" 6th Duc de Normandie and his mother was Herleva (Herleve) Arlotta (Arlette)  De Falaise.  His paternal grandparents were Richard II "The Good" 4th Duc de Normandie and Judith de Bretagne of Rennes; his maternal grandparents were Fulbert De Falaise and Doda (Duxia). He had a sister named Adeliza.  He was the older of the two children.  He died on September 9th, 1087 in Rouen, Normandy, France.  He was buried in Abbey of St. Stephen, Caen, Normandy, France.
