Her paternal grandparents were Herbert Wakefield and Louisa Stowell; her maternal grandparents were Mark Challis and Alice Constance Shire. She had a sister named Beryl. She was the older of the two children. She died at the age of 75 on March 6th, 2003 in Hayle.-
