Ealdgyth was born in Bernicia, Northumbria, England and her baptism took place about 0984. Ealdgyth's father was Aldred (Siward) (Ealdred or Aedulf) of Saxe-Mercia Earl of Northumberland and her mother was Ecgfrida Sigera (Sigrida) De Durham.  Her paternal grandparents were Uchtred Ealdorman of Northumbria 5th Lord of Bamburgh Earl of Bernicia and Eggfrida (Aecgfrida or Ecgfrida of Chester) Countes Northumbria; her maternal grandparents were Ealdhun De Durham and Kilvert. She had two sisters named Daughter and Aelflaed.  She died in 1038.
