Janet was born on March 31st, 1698.  Janet's father was Hon. Sir David  Dalrymple (1st Baronet Dalrymple, of Hailes) and her mother was Janet Rochead.  Her paternal grandparents were Sir James Dalrymple (1st Viscount Stair) and Margaret (Witch of Endor) Ross. She had a brother named Hugh.  She died at the age of 67 on January 8th, 1766.
