Hugh was born about 0938.  Hugh's father was William III de Poitiers "Towhead" Duke of Aquitaine and his mother was Gerloc.  His maternal grandparents were Rollo "The Ganger" Ragnvaldsson 1st Duc de Normandie and Poppa de Bayeux of Normandy de Valois.  He was an only child.  He died in August 0996.  He was buried in Basilica of St. Denis, France.
