Sarah Maria, known as Dolly, was born on September 2nd, 1850 in Hobart, Tasmania, Australia. Dolly's father was Alfred Henry Bisdee and her mother was Sarah Butler. Her paternal grandparents were Thomas Bisdee and Elizabeth Bishop. She had two brothers named Thomas Gamaliel and Alfred James. She was the oldest of the three children.-
