Dorthea was born on October 17th, 1758 in Bedminster Township, Bucks county, Pennsylvania, USA.1  Dorthea's father was Johann Heinrich “Henry” Junghen and her mother was Catharina Scherer (Junghen).  Her paternal grandparents were ? Junghen and ? ? (Junghen); her maternal grandparents were Henry Scherer and ? ? (Scherer). She had five brothers and three sisters, named John, Jacob, Frederick, Rudolph, Henry, Anna, Anna and Catharina.  She died at the age of 10 on September 15th, 1769.1
