William was born on April 15th, 1863 in Fayette County, Pennsylvania, USA.1   William's father was William L Patterson and his mother was Amanda Slonaker (Patterson).  His maternal grandparents were Adam Slonecker and Nancy Bechtell (Slonecker). He had three brothers and seven sisters, named David, Byron, Franklin, Adella, Alice, Lane, Elizabeth, Mary, Catharine and Alvalinea.  He was the second oldest of the eleven children.

William's family

William and ? were married in a religious & civil ceremony.1   They had eleven children of unknown gender named Patterson, Patterson, Patterson, Patterson, Patterson, Patterson, Patterson, Patterson, Patterson, Patterson and Patterson.  The family line is yet to be completed.
