Susanna was born in February 1837 in Kingwood, Somerset County, Pennsylvania, USA.1   Susanna's father was John Minerd and her mother was Sarah “Hannah” Ansell (Minerd).  Her paternal grandparents were Jacob Minerd Jr and Catherine Younkin (Minerd). She had a brother and five sisters, named Martin, Catherine, Henry, Sarah, Joanna and Hannah.  She was the fourth oldest of the seven children.  She died at the age of 82 on August 24th, 1919 in Normalville, Fayette County, Pennsylvania, USA.1

Susanna and Andrew were married in a religious & civil ceremony in September 1858 in Church, Wetzel, West Virginia, USA.1   They had five sons and four daughters, and also a child of unknown gender, named John, Ulysses, William, Andrew, Charles, Susanna, Louisa, Sadie, Sarah and Missouri.
