Mary's father was Peter Grimm Sr. and her mother was Christina Bash (Grimm). Her paternal grandparents were Andrew Grimm and Margaret ? (Grimm); her maternal grandparents were Andreas Bash and Barbara Haines (Bash). She had seven brothers and a sister, named Peter, John, David, Paul, Daniel, Joseph, Samuel and Elizabeth.
