Jane was born in October 1864 in Pennsylvania.  Jane's father was Silas Beidler and her mother was Elmira Beidler.  Her paternal grandparents were Henry Beidler and Elizabeth Beidler. She had two brothers named Thomas and Willus.  She was the second oldest of the three children.
