John was born in 1881 in Oldbury, Worcestershire.  John's father was Thomas WIMBUSH and his mother was Ann <UNKNOWN>. He had two brothers and four sisters, named Samuel, William, Rosannah, Annie, Mary and Ellen.  He was the third oldest of the seven children.
