Ada's father was James Henry TRANTER and her mother was Ann FAIRBROTHER. Her paternal grandparents were Samuel TRANTER and Amelia NICHOLS. She had three brothers and a sister, named Albert, Henry, Peter and Ellen. She was the third oldest of the five children.
