George was born in 1829 in Warwickshire.¹ George's father was Thomas SHILTON and his mother was Ann HARRIS. His paternal grandparents were Samuel SHILTON and Sarah HADDON. He had two brothers and two sisters, named William, Henry, Jane and Sarah. He was the oldest of the five children.
