Thomas was born in 1901 in Coventry, Warwickshire.¹   Thomas' father was Thomas RAVENSCROFT and his mother was Ellen Eugenie BAYNES. He had a brother and a sister, named Frederick and Ellen.  He was the oldest of the three children.
