Joseph's father was Joseph KNOTT and his mother was Rose WOODHOUSE. His maternal grandparents were William WOODHOUSE and Emma COTTON. He had three brothers and two sisters, named Ronald, Geoffrey, Brian, Ada and Brenda. He died at the age of 37 in 1958 in West Bromwich, Stafford.¹
