    Theodosia Belcher, daughter of Vere Belcher son of William Belcher of Kells, was, as late as the year 1875, employed as a governess to American children in Darby, Pennsylvania. U.S.A. She was then old and ill, and she died unmarried. In her later years she wrote letters to her better-off relatives in Ireland and seems to have been in receipt of gifts of money from them; in these letters she supplied them with certain details of family history, of which the accuracy must be accepted with reserve.. It must be remembered when considering anything she wrote in 1875 about her grandfather, that he had then been dead 77 years and that she could never have seen him, her own father Vere Belcher being but 17 at her grandfathers death.
