Мирон was born on August 14th, 1893.  Мирон's father was Иван Афанасиев Пономаренко and his mother was Варвара Платонова (Пономаренко).  His paternal grandparents were Афанасий Аввакумов Пономаренко and Татьана Самсонова (Пономаренко). He had three brothers and five sisters, named Петр, Максим, Иаков, Надежда, Евфросиния, Екатерина, Ксения and Ирина.  He was the third oldest of the nine children.
