Minnie was born in Kingston Ontario.  Minnie's father was Dennis Corrigan and her mother was Margaret Mary Brady.  Her paternal grandparents were James Corrigan and Bridget (Budge) Hughes; her maternal grandparents were James Brady and Catherine Moran . She had four brothers and five sisters, named Daniel, Jack, Sherman, Leo, Jetty, Kathryn, Frances, Pearl and Margaret.
