Martha was born on July 14th, 1829.  Martha's father was Thomas Duckers and her mother was Harriett Evans.  Her paternal grandparents were William Duckers and Martha Hales; her maternal grandparents were Edward Evans and Ann (Evans). She had a brother and four sisters, named Thomas, Harriett, Ann, Elizabeth and Mary.  She was the oldest of the six children.
