Edward was born in 1513 in Brockelsby Manor, Lincolnshire, , England.  Edward's father was George Hamby and his mother was Margaret Cutleer.  His paternal grandparents were Walter Hamby and Anne Smythe. He had two brothers and a sister, named George, John and Annie.  He was the oldest of the four children. He had a half-sister named Agnes.  He died at the age of 46 on June 29th, 1559 in Brocklesby, Lincolnshire, , England.
