Asanambal's father was Natesa  Iyer and her mother was Meenakshi Natesa Iyer.  Her paternal grandparents were Rangapathy Iyer and Sundari. She had four brothers and a sister, named Kalyanasundaram, Rangapathy, Panchapakesa, Krishnamurthy and Chellamal.
