(then there is a notation 'his remains were taken up in 1897 and re-buried in a family cemetery on the old S.H. Hamilton homestead in Germania Township, Todd Co, MN.)
The Samuel H. Hamilton journal reports his father “died August 18, 1885 at the Aldrich Hotel, Aldrich, Minnesota and lied buried on the farm of a Mr. Armstrong, about 1/2 mile from the station.” His remains were removed in 1897 to the Hamilton Cemetery site.
From Saturday, 29 August 1885 newspaper: Jos. N. Hamilton went to Aldrich to attend the funeral of his father, Jonathan Hamilton, who died last Wednesday. He reports that farmers are still cutting their grain in that section, and that corn is not so promising as with us. The latter crop was badly set back by a frost in June.
Mrs. Sarah Hamilton died on 23 February 1885.
Elder Jonathan Hamilton died on 19 August 1885.
