Josiah, known as John, was born on October 17th, 1835 in Middleton, New Hampshire.1 2  John's father was William  J?(John?) Thompson and his mother was Deborah Davis.  His paternal grandparents were John C Thompson and Elizabeth Walker; his maternal grandparents were Jacob Davis and Deborah Tuttle. He had two brothers and two sisters, named William, OD Davis, Abby and Eliza.  He was the youngest of the five children. He had a half-brother and two half-sisters, named Josiah, Mary and Eleanor.  He died  due to grippe or flu at the age of 75 on April 18th, 1911 in Exeter, Rockingham, New Hampshire.  He was buried in Cpt. Nathaniel Davis family cemetery, Lee, NH.3 4
