Navar was born in 1654 in Krone, (Krune), Sokndal, Rogaland, Norway.1  Navar's father was Brynjel Arrestad and his mother was Karen Steffensdtr Arrestad.  His maternal grandparents were Steffen Guilliksen Arrestad and Torborg Mikkelsdtr Anders.  He died at the age of 84 in 1738.1
