Askild was born in 1594 in Hestad, Hetland, Norway.  Askild's father was Tosten Anfinnsen Hestad and his mother was Sorvesdtr.  His paternal grandfather was Anfinn and his paternal grandmother is <Unknown>; his maternal grandfather was Sorves and his maternal grandmother is <Unknown>.  He died at the age of 73 in 1667 in Hestad, Hetland, Norway.
