Ruth was born on April 19th, 1861.1 2   Ruth's father was Orrin W Small and her mother was Sarah Abigail Thompson.  Her maternal grandparents were William  J?(John?) Thompson and Deborah Davis. She had four brothers and four sisters, named Charles, Everette, Joseph, Washington, Dell, Julia, Nellie and Jennie.  She was the fourth oldest of the nine children.  She died at the age of 56 on April 28th, 1917.
