From journal of Samuel Hart Hamilton:
Sarah Clark his wife was born in Epping, NH Jan 1, 1802.  She died at my brother J. N.'s (Jonathan Noble Hamilton) house Feb 29, 1885.  They were married in Ripley, now Cambridge, Maine in 1820 by Justice of the Peace.  Their children were Simeon who died an infant.  Elijah born Feb 4, 1823 died Dec. 25, 1888 in Exeter, Maine.  His first wife Catherine Lingley died in the 1840s--they had 2 children, Sarah A. and Catherine L. both born in Orsville, Maine.  Sarah married Josiah Thompson of Lee, NH in the 1860's and died in Minneapolis, MN in 1874 of diphtheria.  They left 2 children, Kate and Ella.  Elijah's second wife was Irene Langly.

From Saturday, 21 February 1885 newspaper: Mrs. Hamilton, mother of Dr. J. R., Joseph N., and Samuel has been very ill with pneumonia.  A telegram to Minneapolis brought the doctor up, who spent a few days at Joseph’s and left for the city when the old lady’s symptoms assumed a favorable turn.  The Doctor reports a bad condition of health for himself, this winter, and his general appearance is not so robust as when he was on the Hamilton farm.  He was posed with the question as to the damage of cutting the grove west of the old home, and answered that $2000 would be a small compensation for its loss. The Doctor’s judgement ought to be good, for he saw a cyclone sweep everything outside of the shelter the grove afforded.

From Saturday, 28 February 1885 newspaper: Kingston News, February 25. 
(1) Morning stage from Dassel brought Dr. J. R. Hamilton and wife, of Minneapolis, today, to attend his mother’s funeral. 
(2) Mrs. Hamilton, wife of Rev. Jonathan, died, Monday night.  The Doctor and relatives have been informed by telegraph.  She was nearly 80 years old; but your correspondent has not the particulars.

The Samuel H. Hamilton journal reports “that Mother had died at 8pm last Monday at his [brother Joseph Noble Hamilton’s] house in French Lake Township, Wright Co. Minnesota. Her age at death 83 years. She has been insane for almost 8 years.”
