John was born in 1921 in 12 North Dell, Barvas, Isle of Lewis, Scotland. John's father was Angus Morrison and his mother was Anne Campbell. His maternal grandparents were Angus Campbell and Margaret MacLeod. He had two half-sisters named Catherine and Margaret. He died as a war casualty at the age of 23 on April 20th, 1944 in Belgium.
