Matthew Morrell

Matthew was born in 1848 in Hartshay, Derbyshire, England and his christening took place on March 19th, 1848 in Heage, Derbyshire, England.^1 2   Matthew's father was Samuel Morrell and his mother was Hannah Stokes.  His paternal grandparents were George Morrell and Anne Ward; his maternal grandparents were Samuel Stocks and Elizabeth. He had four brothers and six sisters, named Samuel, George , Joseph, John, Hannah, Emma, Ann, Martha, Esther and Sarah.  He was the oldest of the eleven children.
