George was born on March 9th, 1901 in Bull Hill, Pentrich, Derbyshire, England.  George's father was Matthew James Morrell Haynes and his mother was Mary Ann Foster (Booth).  His paternal grandparents were Thomas Haynes and Hannah Morrell; his maternal grandfather is <Unknown> and his maternal grandmother was Hannah Foster.  Herbert Booth was his grandfather through his mother's adoption. He had three brothers and five sisters, named Thomas, Arthur, Harry, Jessie, Evelyn, Nora, Mabel and Dorothy.  He was the third oldest of the nine children.  He died at the age of 11 in 1912.
