Dennis  was born on June 10th, 1861 in Donaghmore, Cork, Ireland.  Dennis 's father was James Brew and his mother was Margaret Murphy.  His paternal grandfather was Jeremiah and his paternal grandmother is <Unknown>. He had two brothers and five sisters, named Jeremiah, Michael, Mary, Margaret, Mary, Johanna and Bridget.  He was the third oldest of the eight children.  He died due to a medical problem, Chronic Myocarditis and Cerebral Thombosis, at the age of 66 in December 1927 in Public Hospital, Hawera.  He was buried on December 7th, 1927 in Eltham, Taranaki, NZ.1 2
