Gideon's father was PIERRE William "Amer" Via and his mother was MARGARET Spencer. His maternal grandparents were WILLIAM Spencer and SARAH Ackley. He had six brothers and four sisters, named Pierre, William, Nohome, Robert, Josias, John, Jean, JUDITH Naomi, Margaret and Mary.
