Josephus' father is NICHOLAS Hunter and his mother is ATHA Emaline Avants.  His paternal grandparents were WILLIAM Hunter Sr. and PRISCILLA Corish. He had four brothers and four sisters, named WILLIAM, James, William Robert, Isaac, Nancy Minerva, Mattie Jane, Jeffie and Mary Elizabeth.
