Tabitha was born in 1781 in Bedford, Bedford, Virginia, United States. Tabitha's father was JOHN B. Hackworth and her mother was MARY Preston. Her paternal grandparents were George Hackworth and Ann Leftwich; her maternal grandparents were PHILIP Preston and MARY Ann Doss. She had ten brothers and five sisters, named Jeremiah, Thomas, George, Joseph, John H, James Preston, Pleasant, Tolbert, Jesse, Jeremiah M, Nancy, MARY Polly, Piety, Charlotte Lockey and Susanna. She died at the age of 59 in 1840.-
