Henry was born on February 17th, 1736 in Hoffenheim, Rhein-Neckar-Kreis, Baden-Wuerttemberg, Germany.  Henry's father was JORDAN or Johnathan Gilbert and his mother was MARY Gilbert. He had two brothers and two sisters, named John, THOMAS, Ann and Sarah. He had a half-brother and two half-sisters, named John, Ann and Mary.  He died at the age of 54 in 1790.
