Robert de was born in 1084 in Folkinham, Lincolnshire, , England. Robert de's father was Gilbert De Gant and his mother was Alice deMontfort. His paternal grandparents were Ralph Gand and Gisele Luxembourg; his maternal grandparents were Sir Hugh II Knight deMontfort and Alice DeBeauffou. He had four brothers and three sisters, named Hugh, Hugh, Walter, Peter de, Filia Felia, Emma and Agnes. He had four half-brothers and three half-sisters, named Gilbert, Ralph de, Geoffrey de, Henry, Emma, Matilda de and Alice de. He died at the age of 69 in 1153.-
