John's father was HENRY II Farrar and his mother was AGNES Horsfall.  His paternal grandfather was HENRY I Ferror and his paternal grandmother is AGNES Ann Lnu; his maternal grandfather is JOHN Horsefalls. He had six brothers and a sister, named WILLIAM, Brian, Edward, John, Henry III, Charles and Agnes.
