Pinkey U's father was Joseph M Carr Sr and her mother was Nancy Jane Black. Her paternal grandparents were George Miller Carr and AmindaArminda Pullen. She had three brothers and five sisters, named Paul, Infant Son, Charles H, Eunice, Bertha, Lucy Mable, Lura J and Louis. She had two half-brothers and seven half-sisters, and also two half-siblings of unknown gender, named Charlie H, Joseph W, Lucile, Eunice, Bertha, Lois, Ethel, Estell, Nellie, Malcolm Lamar and Laura.-
