Ashbel Ruggles
Ashbel was born on September 18th, 1750 in New Haven, New Haven, CT, USA.1 Ashbel's father was Joseph (Captain) Ruggles and his mother was Rachel Tolles. His paternal grandparents were Benjamin (Reverend) Ruggles and Mercy Woodbridge; his maternal grandparents were Henry Tolles and Dorothy Thomas. He had six brothers named Benjamin, Joseph, Lazarus, Timothy, Philo and Benjamin. He had six half-brothers and nine half-sisters, named Samuel, Joseph, Timothy, Samuel, Joseph, Lazarus, Elizabeth Amanda, Mary, Sarah, Lois, Mercy, Rachel, Mabel, Ann and Lucy. He died at the age of 44 on March 17th, 1795 in Brookfield, Fairfield, CT, USA.1 General Notes

2) Almon became a famous surveyor and Judge in Ohio, and is featured in the Biosketches in the History of Berlin Township, Erie County, Ohio. Almon first came to Ohio from Danbury, Connecticut as a surveyor in 1805. In this book it also states: a) that the RUGGLES ancestors were three brothers who came from Scotland; b) that Almon's twin brother Alfred died in infancy; and c) that Almon when to live with an uncle, who was a Presbyterian deacon, because his father was in indigent circumstances.
3) In the 1855 book, Annals of Brookfield [Connecticut] by Emily C. Hawley, it states that it was Alfred [not Albert], son of Ashbel RUGGLES and Rebecca BOSTWICK and twin to Almon the Ohio judge, who died young. Also, according to Hawley, Ashbel died in 1814 at about age 75.

Almon Ruggles
Almon was born in 1771 in New Milford, Connecticut.2 He died at the age of 69 on July 17th, 1840 in Vermilion, Ohio. He was buried in Oak Bluff Cemetery, Berlin Heights, Erie County, Ohio.2 2
