Male Duke of Lancaster John of Gaunt

Duke of Lancaster John of was born in March 1340 in St Bavon's Abbey, Ghent Belgium.1   Duke of Lancaster John of's father was Edward Iii Plantagenet King of England and his mother was Phillipa De Hainaut.  His paternal grandparents were Edward Ii King of England and Isobella (Queen Consort) of France; his maternal grandparents were William Iii Lebon Comte Dehainaut and Jeanne Countess Dehainault Devalois. He had four brothers and two sisters, named Edward Prince of Wales of, Duke of Clarance Lionel of, 1st Duke of York Edmund of, Thomas of, Margaret of and Joan of.  He was the third oldest of the seven children. He had a half-brother named Edmund 1st Duke of York.  He died at the age of 58 on February 3rd, 1399 in Leicester Castle, Leicestershire, England.  He was buried in St. Paul's Cathedral, London, Middlesex, England.1 1
