Agnes was born about 1265 in Windeck, Rheinland, Prussia.1   Agnes' father was Count Engelbert of the Mark I and her mother was Kunigunde von Bliescastel. She had a brother and a sister, named Eberhard and Sofie.  She was the youngest of the three children.
