Gilbert, known as Herbert, was born in 1120.1   Herbert's father was 3rd Baron of Ixworth William le Blount and his mother was Sarah de Munchesni.  His paternal grandparents were Baron Ixworth Gilbert le Blount and Alicia Colekirk; his maternal grandparents were Hubert de Munchesney and Emma de Hedenton. He had a sister named Galiena.  He was the older of the two children.  He died at the age of 68 in 1188.1
