Robert was born in 1124 in Helmsly, Holderness, Yorkshire, England.1   Robert's father was Piers de Ros and his mother was Adeline Espec.  His maternal grandparents were William Espec and <Unknown>.  He was an only child.  He died at the age of 38 in 1162.1
