John was born on December 2nd, 1668 in Martin's Hundred, James City, Virginia.1   John's father was Edward Thruston and his mother was Ann Loveing.  His paternal grandparents were John Thruston and Thomasine (Rich) Warren; his maternal grandparents were Thomas Loving and Kingston. He had a sister named Thomasine.  He was the older of the two children.
