Thomas was born in 1780.  Thomas' father was Stephen Threlkeld and his mother was Anne Duncan.  His paternal grandparents were William Threlkeld Sr. and Ruth Rawley; his maternal grandparents were James Duncan and <Unknown>. He had three brothers and seven sisters, named James, Daniel , Willis, Mary, Ann, Elizabeth, Susanna, Margaret, Eleanor and Alice.  He was the nineth oldest of the eleven children.
