Berenice's father was Ptolemy II Philadelphus Egypt and her mother was Arsinoe I Thrace. Her paternal grandparents were Ptolemy Soter I Egypt and Berenice I Egypt; her maternal grandparents were Lysimachos Thrace and Nicea Macedonia. She had a brother named Ptolemy III.
