Friedrich was born in 1090 in Sponheim, Germany.1   Friedrich's father was Siegbert von Saarbrucken I and his mother was Eppenstein.  His paternal grandparents were Siegbert von Saargau and <Unknown>.  He was an only child.  He died at the age of 45 in 1135.1
