Details: Details: Obit Citation Text: Obituary Charlotte Observer MargaretRatliff Flake Mrs. Margaret Ratliff Flake, 79, died Wednesday, December 12, 2007, in Dade City, Fla. There will be a memorial service on Saturday, January 26, 2008, at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Leavitt Funeral Home in Wadesboro with Rev. Betty Boyd officiating. Interment will be in Anson Memorial Park. The family will greet friends for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Margaret was born in Anson County, N.C., June 15, 1928, a daughter of the late John Dunn Ratliff and the late Vera Gathings Ratliff. She was a homemaker and a member of Poplar Hill United Methodist Church in Polkton. She was preceded in death by her husband, Maynard Flake, by her son, Charles Flake, and by her brothers, Charles, Lawrence, Steele and Stuart Ratliff, and by her sister, Nell Rubin. Surviving are her son, John Flake of Polkton; her daughter, Joyce Thies and husband Jack of Dade City, Fla; her granddaughters, Jodi Margaret Black and husband Clint of Conover, N.C., Jennifer Lee Thies and husband Alan Smith of Silver Spring, Md., and Jinger Sara Guerrette and husband Joshua of Auburn, N.Y.; great-granddaughters, Trinity Juliet and Bethany Elaine Black, both of Conover, N.C., and her sisters, Dorothy Hinson of Charlotte, N.C., and Kate Spencer and husband, Bill of Georgetown, Fla. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Poplar Hill United Methodist Church, c/o Betsy Vanhoy, 758 Ross Wright Rd., Polkton, N.C., 28135.
