Lise was born in 1268 in Virneburg, Rheinland, Prussia.¹ Lise's father was Count Heinrich of Virneburg I and her mother was Ponzette von Oberstein. Her paternal grandparents were Count Hermann of Virneburg III/V and Countess Luitgardis of Nassau; her maternal grandparents were Eberhard von Oberstein III and <Unknown>. She had six brothers and seven sisters, named Ruprecht, Friedrich, Eberhard, Heinrich, Werner, Philipp, Mathilde, Aleidis, Margarethe, Imagine, Ponzette, Jutte and Elisabeth.
